You will probably remember Chris as being the presenter of Radio Broadland's Early Breakfast show which he presented every weekday morning between 3am and 6am from 2004 to 2008. However, if your alarm clock didn't ring until later than that, perhaps you tuned into his "Big Weekend" programmes on Saturday afternoons?
Either way, you probably didn't know that as well as presenting, Chris spent two years from 2006 to 2008 producing the award winning local breakfast show with Rob and Chrissie.
Aside from his roles at Radio Broadland, Chris also presented programmes on "The Mix", a national digital station which broadcast on Sky Digital and throughout London on DAB digital radio. Chris also covered shows on a number of other stations including Gold and KLFM.
The Interview Did you work at any other stations before joining Radio Broadland? Not as such. But like most of the presenters that have worked on the station I started at hospital radio - presenting various programmes on Sunday afternoons, Saturday and Monday evenings and most recently Saturday afternoons when I started doing the afternoon sports programme before moving onto match day football commentary for Norwich City at Carrow Road. - Have you ever said anything embarrassing on air? Not that I can remember, but that's not to say I haven't. You'll have to ask the other jocks. Nothing like blowing cock though! (Check out Jono Abel's Interview and all will become clear!) - If you could present any Radio Broadland show, which would you choose? Tough one, but I'll take what I'm given, I love being on-air, whether it's at weekends or doing the weekday early show. I'm very lucky to be in this position doing what I've always wanted to do so at this stage of my career the main focus is developing my on-air skills by getting as much experience under my belt as I can. - Sum up your time at Broadland so far... Very lucky to have the opportunity and loving every minute of it. - Have you ever had to deal with any unusual callers? There is one that springs to mind, probably one of the best callers but also one of the rudest. To cut a long story short, it was an interactive weekend and a lady phoned who was working for Red Wings Horse Sanctuary and she was clearing out horse muck (so she said). Anyway I think she'd been on the sherry and I was talking about my experiences in riding horses... I said something like "I mounted this horse" to which she replied "oh lucky horse wish I was there" followed by the filthiest giggle I've ever heard. It got camper from that point on...
If you weren't in radio, what do you think you'd be doing? Haven't thought that far ahead but probably a super hero of some kind with my underwear sticking out doing good in the world! No honestly, I would take some time out, do some travelling and look for inspiration that way! Probably end up running a cocktail bar on Miami Beach.
Where is Chris now? Chris joined the Tindle Radio group in 2008 as the group S&P producer before recently becoming the presenter of the "Norwich Drive Home" on 99.9 Radio Norwich. The show airs from 3pm till 7pm every weeknight, and you can also catch Chris on Saturday mornings from 7am. |
