Who is Gary Stevens? Gary Stevens joined the team at Radio Broadland in 2003 as the early breakfast presenter before taking over from Jono Abel on the 10 till 2 show. Gary also fronted the hugely popular "Best 80's show in the world, ever" which aired every Sunday morning. I spoke to Gary back in 2004 and we kindly answered a few questions which should give you a bit more insight into the man behind the voice.
The Interview What is the best thing about Radio Broadland? The people. Broadland is a station with a great history behind it and a big future in front of it. I have worked in a few stations but the team here are fantastic, real professionals that do lots of work that listeners are unaware of behind the scenes. They're a good laugh too!
Do you have a favourite song? Too many to list, I love all types of music especially 80's and dance. Depends on what mood I am in as to what songs my favourite.
Is there anything you couldn't live without? It's sad I know, but my mobile, email, and computer! Also Football, my partner Emma and the kittens Holly & Ivy (not necessarily in that order!)
Sum yourself up... what do you really like? The local area, I have a boat on the Broads and like nothing better that getting some food, drink and some mates and heading off on a sunny day. It's such a stress buster and a great way to chill out.
...and your pet hates? Don't start me off here! Lorries and tractors that hold up traffic and don't pull over. People at petrol stations that wait till there is a free pump on the side of their petrol tank rather than going to one on the other side and stretching the hose! Being behind people at cash points that try 3 cards, check balances, order statements, pay money in, and do a million other things rather than just getting money out.
Do you have a favourite food? Salad. Not really! I love Curry and you can't beat the chips from my local chippy!
...and a favourite drink? Any beer and going through a funny phase right now for Vanilla Coke.
What is the worst job you've ever had? Has to be when I was still at school I had a part time job in Iceland (long way to travel!) I was based in the deep freezer and had to count bags of peas and sprouts. Job came to an end when I got caught having a bowling competition with frozen turkeys in the freezer room!
What's you idea of an ideal holiday? I love Spain and France, anywhere hot. I have relations in New York and try to get out there at least once a year for shopping. I go with an empty case and come back with a bulging one! |
