Who is Greg Martin? Greg is probably best remembered as the presenter of the "Hot 30 Countdown" on Radio Broadland. An interactive chart show compiled from listener votes. Greg moved to the early breakfast show when CoreControl launched on the station and can now be found on the afternoon show on Heart Cambridge.
The Interview Describe your time in radio so far... I started off on KLFM in Kings Lynn doing Evenings and a whole load of breakfast cover. I said I'd never do earlies again after a year and a half of that, but hell, money talks! I'd only left KLFM for about three days before getting the call from Broadland to do stuff here which ended up with me on the Hot 30. I've done shows all over the shop for Cambridge and Ipswich, I went to the States to do interviews and I was on "The Mix" at weekends.
Have you ever done anything embarrassing on air? I'm glad there's no web-cam just put it that way! Nothing really embarrassing... although, there was the time Jono Abel brought his pet poodle into the studio and it jumped onto the desk in front of me when I was live on air... It's probably the last thing you expect to encounter in a studio although I have worked with some dogs in my time! (not here though!)
What would be your dream radio job? How many people around here can say they've done a national breakfast show or interviewed Rachel from S Club? (hmmmm). Core was fantastic and now with this CoreDance show coming from right here, going all the way over East Anglia and to the West Country, things are pretty good here thanks!
Have you ever done anything you shouldn't? What in the studio...? Never! Does flirting with Black Thunder girls count? Nobody ever said a bottle of Bud and a pizza was against the rules so I guess not! We don't have rules really, as long as we sound the B*llocks!
Sum up your time at Radio Broadland in one sentence... I wouldn't get up at 2.30 in the morning if I didn't love the job!
If you weren't in radio, what do you think you'd be doing? I'd have a log cabin in the alps, living as a recluse with my dog. The only contact with the outside world would be a buxom milk maid called Heidi.
Where is Greg now? Greg Martin can now be found presenting the lunchtime show weekdays on Heart 103fm in Cambridge.
